Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.0.2
If you’re considering moving your photos from iPhoto into the recently released Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 (or rather, Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 Organizer, which is the separate organizer application that comes with Photoshop Elements), you’ll want to snag version 9.0.2 of Adobe’s slimmed-down version of Photoshop. Adobe is saying only that the update “provides fixes for Import from iPhoto,” but that’s sufficient, given that in our testing of the previous version, the feature didn’t work at all with iPhoto ’11. Adam,
For $80 one can get Apple's Aperture. Is it really worth getting the Adobe product? What advantage is there in getting a watered down product for $99, when you can get a pro product for $80?
Aperture is definitely the more professional product, but Photoshop Elements offers more creativity and image editing tools. If you want to make adjustments to selected areas, it's easier to do in PSE. But I far prefer Aperture's organization and tagging tools over those in the Elements Organizer. To be honest, the two complement each other, and if you were considering spending $200 on just Aperture before, you'd do well to get them both: Aperture for organizing, tagging, and making whole-image adjustments; and then edit photos in PSE (you can configure PSE as the external image editor) for Photoshop core technology, healing brush, filters, and the like.
Unfortunately the Adobe Updater does not work - it hangs and can only be force quit.
Does anyone know a way of downloading and manually installing the update?
The link in the writeup leads to a standalone installer download.
