DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.0.9
DEVONtechnologies has released another set of minor updates for all editions of its information assistant programs, DEVONthink and DEVONnote. The latest versions of DEVONthink and DEVONnote now offer much improved email archiving and faster downloading of OCR resources. The software also now includes the capability to rename and move databases, even when they’re open. Sorting, classifying, and searching are all improved, too. Also new is an option to install widgets from the Install Add-Ons window. (DEVONthink Pro Office, $149.95 new, free update; DEVONthink Professional, $79.95 new, free update;
DEVONthink Personal, $49.95 new, free update; DEVONnote, $24.95 new, free update)
Why do you refer to Devonthink as a memory manager? I think of it as a non-hierarchical text storage tool with exceptional search capabilities.
ditto -- that is, as a person who works on both Macs and PCs, a "memory manager" is something that controls the computer's use of RAM.
I have Devon products (several versions) for my Mac, and they are sophisticated information, data and notes management apps. Not "memory" managers.
(Though, these kind of apps help to supplement human recall memory, but really, in no way manage human memory cells. ;(
I think you're reading a lot more into "memory manager" than Lex implied - he was just looking for a quick description of DEVONthink, which is a tough program to sum up. :-)
As Joe Kissell points out in his "Take Control of Getting Started with DEVONthink 2" book, DEVONthink can act as a file and media browser, snippet keeper, note taker, database, Web and RSS reader, and organizational tool. I'll tweak the article...
