Access Street View in iPhone Maps

Finding the Google Street View feature in the iPhone 2.2 version of Maps is tricky - there's no button for it. If you're viewing a map that you think might have a street view, drop a pin (tap the curled paper icon at lower right, then tap Drop Pin or Replace Pin if a pin is already being used). An orange person icon at the left of the pin's information line is dark and can be tapped if Street View information is available.

Apple Board Meets, Apple Confirms Newton Resorption

Apple's board of directors is meeting in person today for the first time since the changes made during Boston Macworld Expo (see Microsoft is Jobs #1 in TidBITS 392, 11-Aug-97). The meeting is not regularly scheduled, and we expect topics of discussion to include the clone licensing situation and CEO candidates (the name of Bud Tribble, who worked with Jobs at Apple and NeXT and is currently at Sun Microsystems, has come up in relation to a high-ranking Apple post, though not necessarily CEO). In related news, a company spokeswoman confirmed to Reuters yesterday that, as we reported last week, Apple has plans to retain the Newton unit. We hope a positive resolution to the clone licensing situation emerges from the meeting.
