Move a File in the Finder
Sometimes you want to move a file in the Finder across volumes, not copy that file. Holding down the Command key while dragging ensures that the item is copied, and then its original deleted, adding up to a move.

BYTE Bites the Dust
ZDNN reported today that the pages of history may close on the venerable technology magazine BYTE. The 23-year-old magazine, which was recently sold by owner McGraw-Hill to CMP Media, will either close for good or will reopen in two months as a software development magazine with controlled circulation and a new staff. Although BYTE didn't focus on the Mac, it was known for fair and in-depth Macintosh reporting. It remains to be seen how the demise of BYTE will affect the Apple advertisements that base their performance claims on BYTE benchmarks - BYTE has a FAQ page offering explanations and commentary surrounding its BYTEmark suite.
