GoLive Announces Web Publishing System
GoLive Systems announced the GoLive Web Publishing System at Seybold Seminars this week. Billed as a complete online content management package, the Golive Web Publishing System combines browser-based content editing (under the moniker CyberWriter) with a publishing edition of the well-regarded GoLive CyberStudio and a new SQL-based CyberServer for managing content and publishing it to the Web. CyberServer can produce dynamic and static HTML pages, and will run on several Unix systems (including AIX, Sun Solaris, and Linux) as well as on Windows and Mac OS servers, including Apple's forthcoming Mac OS X Server. The basic idea is that a designer creates a Web site using CyberStudio on a Macintosh, users update and edit content from any system with a recent Web browser, and the entire site is served from any of a wide choice of server platforms. The GoLive Web Publishing System should ship in the fourth quarter of 1998; full pricing details haven't been worked out, but a two-user license should be less than $1,000.
