Farallon HomeLINE Creates Fast & Easy Networks
Farallon Communications today announced HomeLINE, a new networking technology that connects Macs and PCs at 1 Mbps using existing telephone wiring without interrupting voice or DSL communications. The current HomeLINE products come in the form of PCI cards, though Farallon is working on other solutions for iMac and PowerBook users. The $139 HomeLINE Starter Kit contains two PCI cards and two phone cables, along with a slew of software including Vicomsoft SurfDoubler and trial versions of Miramar's PC MACLAN (cross-platform file and printer sharing software) and Netopia's Timbuktu Pro (cross-platform remote control and file transfer software). The $79 HomeLINE Single Pack includes the same software but comes with only a single PCI card and phone cable.
