Poll Preview: Them Tomes, Them Tomes -- Literally hundreds of new computer books appear every year, covering the latest versions of software, passing on tips and techniques for creating everything from Web sites to digital videos, and opining on the state of technology and the industry. Frankly, it's overwhelming (and if you don't believe me, take a gander at the size of the computer section in a large bookstore). But despite the books whose pages should have been allowed to remain in tree form, there are true gems, books that offer assistance you can't easily find elsewhere or that provide a unique perspective in a form far too detailed for a magazine or Web site. This week's poll question, then, asks, "Which factors most influence your decision to purchase a computer book?"
