Copy Existing Filename to 'Save As' Field
While many utilities provide file naming automation, they're mostly overkill for those cases when you need to make small variations in file content while ensuring the documents group together in a "by name" list.
In the Save As dialog, the default name is the current document name. You can quickly change this to match any existing file.
1. Make the list of files the active element.
2. Click on a grayed-out filename, which momentarily turns black.
3. The Save As field now contains the filename you just clicked.
You can modify the name (adding, say, "version 3") or overwrite that existing file you clicked.

| Apple Discontinues G4 Cube
Looks like the square computer does fit in the round file: Apple Computer has announced it is discontinuing the Power Mac G4 Cube, which it introduced just under one year ago at Macworld Expo in New York. The tiny, silent, 8-inch square computer won lots of points for having a nifty design, but sales never took off (even after Apple upgraded and steeply discounted the machines), and the machines lacked expandability, leading the mid-range professional users for whom the machines were intended to choose G4 minitowers instead. The Cubes also suffered flurries of bad publicity concerning perceived cracks in the G4 Cubes' cases and problems with the unique power switches (which operate using static capacitance rather than a physical switch). Apple says there's a small chance they will re-introduce an upgraded version of the Cube in the future, but it seems unlikely; instead, we hope some of the Cube's engineering expertise is applied to future iMacs and professional Macintosh systems.
