Copy Excel Selection as a Picture

Want to show someone a chunk of an Excel spreadsheet via email or iChat? You could take a screenshot, but if you want to show just a portion of the Excel window and you don't use a utility like Snapz Pro, you can do this right from within Excel 2008. Make a selection, hold down the Shift key, and choose Copy Picture from the Edit menu. You can select whether the selection will be rendered as though it was shown on screen or as though it was printed. Then just switch to your desired destination and paste.

Mac OS X 10.2.6 Fixes USB-related Kernel Panics

As has been discussed in TidBITS Talk, Mac OS X 10.2.5 had some troubles with certain USB hubs, with kernel panics being increasingly common. Today may bring relief from those crashes for many with Apple releasing Mac OS X 10.2.6. Foremost among the changes is a fix for the USB bug, along with better printing compatibility for PostScript OpenType fonts, fixes for certain Maya features and better compatibility for MacSoft Unreal Tournament 2003, a problem related to Asian language scripts not appearing when English was the default language, and support for the Sony Ericsson T610 phone in Address Book. It's a 6.1 MB download via Software Update.
